Let's find a new game!

Post by E.Estrada » Sun Sep 04, 2016 2:10 am

With the recent announcement by UBI to sunset RvS we need to find a new focus for OS*.

What games are you interested in? What PC specs do you think are important in deciding upon a new game?

Let's keep any and all initial ideas in this thread. Feel free to create a new thread for individual games under consideration.

I'll leave you with this:

"... a tie is a noose, and inverted though it is, it will hang a man nonetheless if he's not careful." - Yann Martel

I've been trying to play Mechwarrior Online but with very little success
It's a great looking game but has one hell of a learning curve.
Mainly because at the start you're using trial mechs that you can't reconfigure. Or if you can, I've not found out how.
While it does give you a range of mechs, it still would be nice to tweak them.
But it does take a higher end PC to play.

I've been playing Counter-Strike-Global Offensive for a few months now.
At first, I wasn't a big fan of this game.
Here's some reasons why just to name a few:
The fact that you have to select your weapon at the beginning of each round was just too
much for me because I've been spoiled for years with RVS where you only select them once and you go.
On top of this, you are limited with an amount of money each round and sometimes you're
stuck with a pistol while the other team are having rifles.
Another thing. I was used to have over 70 bullets in mags with RVS because of awesome mods. This game
you have way less than that.

All this aside now. The game might not be comparable to RVS but as a FPS game I do enjoy it after
playing a couple of months. It took a little while to get use to but once I did, I actually
prefer this game over RVS. Not that I didn't like RVS anymore, but I am more of an adversarial player
and we all know that adversarial on RVS has been dead for some time. This game you have more than
half a million people worldwide at pretty much any giving time.

The sad part is there's quite a few cheaters and salty people but so is many other games.

I am open to try some new games and I hope to see OS and SS move on to something else.
I am looking forward to play with you guys. The RVS end is a new beginning.

That is my 2 cents.

Cheers!

ArmA 3 is likely the closest thing to RvS, but it takes a very powerful machine to run. I agree that Counter Strike is hard for people to transition to due to the high number of hackers. Insurgency was okay, but it lacked the same fast-paced rounds that RvS had. I'll play anything =P, and I'll continue to play RvS!

MWO does have a bit of a learning curve it shouldn't be too hard though after you get used to it. And it does take a while to get one of your own mechs but it shouldn't take a long time. The trial mechs can't be modified but you can examine them to see how they are built, I took apart a Timber Wolf and just made my own which works for me. When you start playing "Ranked" you need a group or else you risk having a group of randoms fighting a full Unit which never ends well.

We could always try emailing and chatting with Ubi support staff, whether or not that will work I have no idea. A Third-Party tool might work as well, Runs the game like LAN but works like a online server. Been looking at Game Ranger it seems okay but might not be what you want.

I will keep playing RvS.

Enjoyed watching "Dead by Daylight",
but am not even sure if my Laptop can run it.
Besides that, it's just a game for a few hours of pure evil fun.
Though I defo prefer "Dead by Daylight" from the games I might consider to buy!

I once liked CS,
but from what I wachted @ my housemate,
#1 my machine aint capable
#2 not my thing anymore

ArmA ain't close to RvS.
Not even similiar.
Yes, team-play, but different.

Meep...I would need "old" games to play,
my baby Laptop 's now around 5 years old.
Freedom is endless ... "Traveller - Sarazar (feat. Circle of Alchemists)"
